Can you feel the energy? Can you see the motivation? Can you hear the passion? Democrats and Placer County residents are showing up, making their voices heard, doing it in big numbers. You all have made it clear that you are fed up with what is happening in Washington and want to do something about it. Our International Women’s Day Rally was a resounding success because you took action. Thank you to our partners, the Nevada County Democrats, Indivisible Auburn, and the Folsom Area Democratic Club for showing what is possible when different communities work together.
Then, when Kevin Kiley held his much demanded, yet disappointing “tele-town hall,” thousands of you dialed in. So many of you in fact that many could not even get onto the call. Even though Kiley dodged every concern about the actions of the Trump and Musk Administration and took every opportunity that he could to blame California, callers stayed in there and kept asking fantastic questions.
The Placer County Democratic Party sees you and appreciates everyone who has written a letter, made a phone call, attended a rally, or who has reached out to do more over the last couple months. Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines. We must grow and organize so that we can transform voices into votes next year. The reality is that Kiley has likely raised more money from his coverage on Rachel Maddow than have Democrats in his district. Assemblymember Joe Patterson even took the opportunity to belittle your participation in Kiley’s tele-town hall by calling it mere “gamesmanship.” They are not yet concerned about your voice or your vote.
Change starts one action at a time, one new relationship at a time. There are a lot of Democrats who would like to meet you at Placer Action Network’s monthly Common Grounds Meet-Ups or at the Auburn Area Democratic Club’s weekly gathering for Coffee & Conversation. Additionally, because Kiley will not do one, the Placer County Democratic Party and partnered organizations are currently planning an in-person town hall for early May. Please stay tuned for updates. Finally, if you would like to work with the Placer County Democratic Party to better connect with communities, recruit local candidates, organize volunteers, fundraise, or communicate our message, please contact me at [email protected].

The "Know Your Placer County Democratic Party" chart above shows the California Democratic Party (CADEM) organization in Placer County. The statewide CADEM (Chart-CDP) has over 10 million members. A growing number of Placer County voters are aligning with 90,000 Democrats.
Many Democrats are not aware of the Chartered Democratic Clubs. We are showing the Clubs below so voters will reach out to engage those of us fighting present-day Tyranny, Fascism, Dictatorship, and Authoritarianism on steroids. We're in uncharted waters.
We understand that many people in Placer County have varying, or due to other life priorities, no interest in politics. So we think it is vital to list below some associations of concerned citizens and voters who exist as nonpartisan patriots.

If You Could Help Ease the Divisions in America, Would You Do It?
|
"Treating people with contempt causes division; treating people with dignity eases division. When we put a spotlight on dignity and contempt, we use more dignity and less contempt. When we use more dignity and less contempt, we begin to expect the same from the people who entertain us, inform us, and represent us."

The CD3 Regional Organizing Council (ROC) is a coalition of like-minded organizations working at all levels of electoral politics within California Congressional District 3. The ROC will promote collaboration where possible, share best practices among coalition members, and build organizational capacity for long-term success.
Let's be clear, the actions being taken by the Trump/Musk administration to destroy our democracy are dire. The complete surrender of the Republican majority, including Congressman Kevin Kiley, means that no one is standing up for We the People. It is up to us to fight for our country’s future, and we must use short-term and long-term strategies. Town halls and peaceful rallies and marches are only the beginning, showing we're informed, and we will resist. Our votes matter. Unlike the opposition, our nationwide events affirm this.
Let’s start with the short-term: Join one of the nationwide protests planned locally for April 5th. Eight (8) locations in our congressional district will hold rallies. Click the link - to see the Congressional District Three Regional Organizing Council (ROC) Link: all of the rallies in CD3.

Stay Informed and updated on the legal front (NYT), on Town Halls, and grassroots activities:
• Courts across the country have overwhelmingly blocked many
of Trump's illegal Executive Orders and cuts. • Republican lawmakers are facing a large backlash during
town halls and public speaking events.
• Being Part of a bigger movement National protests are occurring,
such as those started by grassroots organizers 50501.
- 5 Calls . Make your voice heard to influence policy. Call Kiley.
Note: Long Term strategies forthcoming; connect with CADEM.

Sierra College Survey on The Department of “Not Much” Education
|
Summary of article: A survey of Sierra College students on February 25, 2025, focused on the steady dismantling of the Department of Education. About thirty students participated (most answered all of the four questions). All students knew that a President cannot unilaterally abolish an executive department. On the question of immigration raids at schools, 29 students responded evenly, saying Yes, No, or Yes/No. Most agreed that the President had the authority. On the two questions of funding for education and impacts on particular students, the respondents revealed a concerning lack of knowledge. Further reading of the article will be rewarded with a delicious commentary throughout and on having a World Wrestling Entertainment person in charge of America's Department of Education.

About every Tuesday, I and a couple of other well-meaning but perhaps overly hopeful volunteers set out for Sierra College to inquire after the opinions of the young scholars regarding democracy—a subject that is often debated these days, but it appears to me to be rarely practiced. Now, the school gives us a permit because of we also register voters.
Our last survey took place on February 25, 2025, and it focused on the steady dismantling of the Department of Education—a subject of keen interest to folks who might one day wish to be educated. We corralled about thirty students into participating (some only answer some of the questions), which is a fair number, though some weeks we get more, some less, depending on how desperate they are to avoid their studies. The real prize, however, is not the numbers but the discussions—grand, rollicking affairs in which both the students and us volunteers come away a little wiser, or at least a little more entertained.

👋Before you go...👋
The Placer County Democratic Party is already mobilizing our efforts towards the upcoming 2026 elections in our County. There are many seats up for election locally that we can turn blue. This requires modest resources for holding events, creating content, and reaching Democratic candidates. If everyone who reads this email donates $26, we'd have more than enough to get it done.
