Democratic Club of Lincoln September 18 General Meeting Recap
|
Lincoln Democratic Club participation in the September meeting exceeded Presentation Hall’s capacity, Sun City Lincoln Hills. The meeting required an overflow room via video. Ruth Cox, Chair of the Democratic Club of Lincoln, opened with remarks on the agenda, which included a presentation by Ms. Heidi Hall, candidate running to replace Kevin Kiley for Congressional District 3 (Go to Minute 15:15 on the video link below).
Dan Vicunna, JD, Common Cause (Minute 31:40) participated to explain the Common Cause's "neutral position" on Prop 50; when they would, in principle, oppose gerrymandering. Because of the threat to democracy from Texas's racial gerrymandering, which was ordered by Trump, Common Cause recognized that recent extraordinary circumstances led them to be neutral rather than to oppose California's Prop 50. League of Women Voters was forced to correct the "No on Prop 50" billionaire TV ad to assert "No Position."
In addition, Nick Bennett, the Placer County Democratic Central Committee Chair, spoke on the Yes on Prop 50 to save democracy for all 50 states (Go to Minute 59.25).

Media Faces Reckoning After Helping Trump Downplay Project 2025 on Campaign Trail
|
As President Donald Trump openly embraces Project 2025, mainstream media outlets are facing criticism for their role in helping him downplay his ties to the wildly unpopular far-right governing playbook in the lead-up to his reelection last year.
